back from Mexico

Last week we went to Nuevo Progresso, Tamaulipas, so I could get my dental work done. Glad that's over.

Now, we are back to the process of sorting all our junk and chucking out everything we can bear to part with.

Things I'm thinking about:
Trying to cook bread in the pressure cooker

Cooking with fewer pots - and where to put those giant, heavy, objects

Where to put everything?!? We're planning an initial trip, with pots, pans, and a load of clothes, to see how much stuff will actually fit on the boat. Then we can reconnoiter at home and decide what exactly we can afford to take

Internet we can access through the cell phone - this still seems futuristic to me, but we're quite dependent on the web as a research tool, and we hope to keep in touch through this blog. We'll be working this out as we go, though.

Hand washing - seems trivial, but with small boys (and one in diapers) we wash hands continually throughout the day. When the water is rationed, we may want another strategy. Maybe washcloths instead of running water?

Hair washing - mine that is. I was toying with the idea of an easy-to-wash short cut, but have just about decided that I can wait between visits to onshore showers. I bought a bottle of waterless shampoo ("for truckers and campers") so will try that out.

Coercing everyone to use just ONE towel per washload. And not get their clothes so dirty every day.

Where will all the toys go?

Bix

Bix is my stuffed animal. I made him with dads help. My brother is making one too his name is plom. We have named these stuffed animals Franken Things. They are very fun to make and play with. I am going to give one to each of my friends for christmas. Then we can play with our Franken Things together.

my school

I home school. Isn't that neat? When you home school, you do a lot of things. they're not always in order. They're never the same; it's always a different school day.

I like reading my reader. Today in the story I read, there was a sick man that controlled the windmil, and the boy got a pill and a glass of water for the sick man to swallow the pill down.

I like doing math. it's really really fun. It's Singapore Math. Today I wrote the answers to all the math problems. Instead of sitting in a desk all day or something like that, you can sometimes sit outside, you can sometimes sit on the couch.

Something, that is a very long thing for me, is when I do my flash cards. My flash cards are about math, but they take such a long time. I keep wanting Dad to set the timer, but he won't. I do these old flash cards, I'm learning addition on my flash cards.

The LEGO creation!

My Legos

I have about a thousand Legos. I have so many, but I'm just not gonna count em since I have so many. I like playing with my Legos. There's some really neat ones. I even have a Mad-Eye Moody character that's Lego. Isn't that neat? If you've seen Wallace & Gromit, I've made the Moonbot (in the one where they go to the moon) and I even made him with his own spaceship. Cause he couldnt get away on Wallace & Gromit's like on the movie, but Wallace & Gromit couldn't either. Because my brother's Lego creation called TinyDog stole Wallace & Gromit's spaceship so they couldn't get away. They made a terrible rocket plane so it couldn't go into space. But Wallace ddn't design it to go into space by itself, he desgned it to hook into the the Moonbot's spaceship and go into space.

my reader

My reader is a hundred years old, Well, we don't know how old it is but we think it's 100 years old. That's a pretty old book isn't it? I'm getting faster and faster at reading it. The first time it it took two days to read. And now I can read it in a few minutes.

The pictures aren't cartoons; like I was saying, its a hundred years old. The pictures have things like nags (well, they're horses). One of the characters has the name of my dad, Tom. Isn't that just neat? In one of the stories there were two dogs. They were pugs. One was a pup and the other was a grown up dog.

Stuffed Animal Election Day

My animals voted yesterday. The two candidates for President of the stuffed animals were Kanga and Plip.

Plip is a penguin. Kanga is a kangaroo. My stuffed animal Tigger voted for Kanga but his son, my littler stuffed animal Tigger (whose name is Tiger), voted for Plip. Beary Bear voted for Kanga and he wrote "Kanga".

Plip won, mostly because he was cute, and because he was littler than Kanga, and the litle animals voted for him because he was like them. You know how penguins feed their babies? They blech (feed them their throw-up). That's what Plip is going to do to all the baby penguins. Happy Hippo and Cochon thought that throw-up fed to the babies was cool, and that's why they voted for him.

As the President of the stuffed animals, Plip is going to make some laws and do some good things.

The Elm street band

I play the piano,my Dad plays the guitar,my freind (Arthurs freind too) Mattew really likes drums,(and has a drum set) and my little brother Oliver (two years old) just now knows how to play the recorder.Well thats the Elm street band.

My friends Matthew and Everley

Its good to be home playing with my friends Matthew and Everley. We like playing games, not the kind that are board games, but imaginary games. Mathew had a birthday party on saturday and it was a lot of fun.
