almost there

We've crossed the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and are staying in Maryland for the night. Tomorrow morning we will be in Delaware. Tom has spent the last two days driving up and down mountains and it has been stressful. But the scenery has been beautiful. After leaving Tennessee we traversed nearly the whole state of Kentucky. Due to pure luck we went through Lexington the day after the big horse race. There were storybook horse farms with green grass, rolling hills, miles of white fence, and happy horses grazing everywhere. For some reason I don't know the barns are all painted black. West Virginia was next: heavily wooded and sparsely populated on most of the stretch we drove. We have been lucky to see so much unspoiled and picturesque mountain terrain. Why on earth are people moving in droves to Texas and not here? It must have something to do with jobs, or the roads probably being impassable in the winter. It certainly was beautiful. Northern Maryland was much the same, but the trees were less green and there was more development. Not quite so pretty. We snuck in between of Baltimore and Washington D.C. without getting caught in traffic. Things have started looking familiar. We are all getting excited to be so close. And tired of driving. Will send another message once we get settled.

cheers,
Dana
